Mainstrasse - 254 West 8th Street

An early “Charleston style” cottage in decrepit condition is being reimagined and nearly fully rebuilt to revitalize and give new energy to this derelict home.  The one bedroom cottaged underwent a second story addition in a tight space, adding vaulted stair/circulation space, a master bedroom suite, bathroom, and laundry.  The theme of the design is sort of a Jekyll and Hyde approach, expressing the dialogue between the 150 year old existing building and the complementary but yet contrasting modern addition. Throughout the original front portion of the building historic detailing was recreated and expressed while the rear new addition servers as a juxtaposition and detailed in a minimalist contemporary fashion. Construction completed April 2021.
